Biography

Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1989, Keith Allegretti is a composer and pianist who enjoys working comfortably in many genres, including chamber, orchestral, vocal, and electronic music. A pianist from the age of 8 and a composer from 13, Keith has developed a career telling unique stories with colorful music and inspiring creativity in others through education.

 

Recent compositions include two short operas, Undina Speaks and The Butterfly, both commissioned by Tetractys New Music's Here be Monsters, 2023 and 2025.  His music has also been featured on Latitude 49's Bagatelles Project, Chicago Lyric Opera's Beyond the Aria, and Lied by the Austin based Local Opera Local Artists, as well as several consecutive years in performances by Central Texas Composers, an Austin based composer collective.

 

His full-length opera Good Country received its first performance at the University of Texas thanks to a grant from UT's College of Fine Arts Diversity Committee in 2019. It has since been performed by Local Opera Local Artists (LOLA) and Portland State University. Keith currently resides in Austin, Texas, where he teaches music locally and actively performs on the piano.
